Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-3, Kharkov Front, Spring 1942

By Olivier Barles

Here are a few pictures of one of my 1/32nd Trumpeter MiG-3.

I found the markings in the fantastic “Modeling the VVS” site by Massimo Tessitori.

It describes a machine seen on the Kharkov Front in spring 1942 and belonging to the 148 IAP.

Some scratch building for the cockpit, a lot of work to thin many thick parts (radiator or air intake lips, undercarriage covers, etc…), but in the end, a nice and pleasant model to assemble.

Painting and weathering were very pleasant to do as well, more particularly for this kind of airplane in such a very “difficult environment”.
