Hasegawa 1/32 Bf 109G-6

By Chip Harrison

The model is the justifiably praised Hasegawa 1/32 scale Bf 109G-6. I added a Cutting Edge cockpit, dust filter, and cannon barrels (much nicer than the kit). The decals are Eagle Cals. I always loved the look of this bird in the Monogram book on the 109 in Italian service and was thrilled to get to build it. Just because I liked them this way, I left the leading edge slats down even though they are almost always retracted in photos. Next time I'll position them properly. Colors are 74/75/76 with an overspray of Italian light gray over the 'naughty bits'. I finished the beast with Future, and then Future with Tamiya flat mixed in. And yes, the clam shell doors on the filter are a mama to get in position!

I was thrilled last Feb to win my first ever adult prize at a contest with this model; a third place in scale at the Silicon Valley Scale Modelers show. There was so much great competition that I felt lucky to place.
